The importance of online reviews to your business should not be underestimated for several reasons including; the customers buying decision-making process can be impacted or altered due to them, and they can impact your company’s search engine rankings, either one of these points should on its own make you pay attention to them.
I appreciate there is concern about the lack of control about what people could say about you or your company online. Still, the reality is, the platforms are readily available for customers or potential customers to say anything they want to anyway, ignoring their ability to do this, it won’t help or improve the situation.
There are three important steps to consider.
-
Find the reviews you already have,
-
Respond to your reviews
-
Learn from your reviews.
Customers can and do leave reviews on Facebook, Google My Business, Yelp and Yell. In addition to these popular places, there are a multitude of other sites where customers can leave reviews online. Some which you will never have even heard of.
It is never too soon to start the process of dealing with online reviews, Google search (or whichever search platform you are using) “Your Company Name Reviews.” “Your Company Name complaints” and see what digital trail is being left by your customers.
You may find nothing, which means you need to consider how you are going to get some positive reviews online. You may find a selection of 5* reviews, in which case you need to consider how you are going to tell potential clients this. You may find one* star reviews; these will need addressing as soon as possible.
